What is the best email marketing service for newsletters

What is the best way to describe email marketing? Is it good or is it bad? Will annoy people or will it help them? What are the best email marketing services for newsletters at the moment?

These are just a few questions that I plan to answer along this article. Those looking for a free email marketing service, please follow along, some of the services I plan to list in this article are also free, not all, but some of them have a free option. I plan to talk about the best 5 email marketing services for newsletters that I’ve used and have confidence that you will also be able to have good success with.

What is the best way to describe email marketing?

Lets see a simple example, normally when referring to marketing, you think about promoting a service or a product. Traditional marketing means that you mainly go to each person interested and promote the product or service. I remember there was a time where salespeople would come and promote products to a group of people in my home. However the downside to this is that:

  1. It is time consuming
  2. People may not have the time to listen to you while you explain the product or service
  3. You need to be prepare for questions and answers on the spot

Now however, the marketing has been more and more about email marketing.

But what is that?

Well its basically the same thing, the only difference is that you are not longer forced to take direct question or create a meeting or whatever you would be doing to promote your products or service by mouth.

Basically you have your future prospects emails and you make direct contact with them using their email. The time you spend in telling each individual about your service is much less here. That is because you are only going to create an infographic or a text email message with the product details or services you are marketing and that same message will be sent to all your contact emails.

If your contacts have questions related to your services, they can easily email you back or, normally you leave phone number, they will call you directly.

Is the email marketing good or is it bad?

Well think of it like this, on the salesperson point of view, the time spent in promoting 100 future prospects is far less than promoting the normal way 10 clients.

On the clients point of view I believe they are no longer forced into listening something they may not be really interested or don’t yet have the time. They can either read the email in their own timely manner and, if the are interested, they will contact you back most likely.

What you do need to be aware, is that some users may be interested in you reaching out to them with product offers or promotions, however in time, they may change and don’t want to receive any more emails related to your offers. For such cases it is necessary you provide an unsubscribe method they can use. If not, the emails will be considered as spams.

Also keep in mind that they should opted-in to your newsletter service, do not send emails to people who have not given their own accord. They will bite you back if you do sooner or later and may also hurt your business. Humans are easily annoyed so if you don’t provide something useful, they will probably want to unsubscribe from receiving your emails.

What are the best email marketing services for newsletters at the moment?

There are a few of them available, a few of them free, other paid. But most of them have the same solutions for subscribing to your newsletter. I’ll try giving a little review to each of the service I’ve tested, there aren’t a lot but these are at least tested.

1. Google Feedburner

For all bloggers out there, but not only them, any website which has an RSS Feed, can signup to Google Feedburner and have Google send them the newsletter to your subscribers. Of course, you may think this is not a marketing service, but I do beg to differ. It just depends on how you use Google Feedburner. The good side is that this is free and available to all users.

2. MailChimp

MailChimp has been the easiest I’ve tested so far, its intuitive, simple and good. Currently I’m using this service for this blog, it also has the RSS Feed to email feature which I’m using for newsletter and generates the newsletter based on a specific template. The service has a free version for users needing less than 2000 subscribers and less than 12,000 emails per month. It has a lot of templates that you can play with or you can also make your own template.

3. MadMimi

This is almost the same as MailChimp with regard to the free version, the template design uses modules that you can create, drag and arrange however you want. It has a lot of components that you can use with lots of major features like Facebook fan page signup, Google Chrome integration, CRM Integration, Bigcommerce integration and many others. From what I can see, it was made to be used by developers in their own project, It also has an API feature that you can use for just this. Do check them up, if you have question their support is also fast!

4. Campaign Monitor

Campaign Monitor is 4th, I’ve got impressed by the way it monitors the emails in real time when they receive the email and open it directly on a word map. Although coding this would not be impossible, but I really hadn’t thought of it, thus got a bit impressed by the idea. The same like MailChimp it has a lot of features, templates, but the pricing found it a bit more expensive than MailChimp. The templates are all mobile ready and also you can code your own design. It also has the RSS Feed feature which is really helpful for bloggers.

5. Email Brain

EmailBrain has been made more for businesses or small business owners. There are lots of templates here too, a simple WYSIWYG template editor to allow you to design your template however you want and it’s also mobile ready. Like the other 3, you also have RSS Feed in the automation section, which is useful for bloggers or websites with RSS Feed content.
