New adsense asynchronous option out of beta

For a long time Google has worked hard and making a lot of changes to their applications, in September and now currently October, appears to be the months with the most changes I’ve seen so far, although who really knows what goes behind the big Giant’s doors. I’ve said before that javascript can be run in an asynchronous mode, nowadays almost all browser do know how to load these. Google has been testing the asynchronous option for a few months now, the other day however I’ve just noticed that now by default we have the asynchronous option instead of the old synchronous version.

How can you asynchronous javascript with Adsense

That’s probably what some of you would be thinking, but its really easy, you just need to login to your account and go to “My Ads” and then click “Get code” on your ad unit from which you want to get the code.

It would be similar as the below image:

Before this was being marked with beta, so performance was actually good, but glitches here and there were present, especially with Opera on linux … I don’t believe it will ever support asynchronous requests properly there.

Anyway, give it a test, it will sure help in getting your website usability speed even faster. Not exactly sure how much would help me though, I was already using some custom things before that would asynchronously load the Adsense on my pages, so for me its approximately the same:

Pingdom speed

But it is worth added that Google is still developing and working to the future with all their software and applications, especially Adsense and Analytics. These two products have been changing for months now. The only issue I found with them is that you can no longer link them together, a real shame, but until this new theme from both Analytics and Adsense are fully finished, we won’t be able to link them.

Anyway that’s a different matter which is not for this article. The point of this article is to use whenever possible asynchronous javascript requests, especially when loading remote content. This will add great usability to your own website as things on your site won’t wait for remote content to load before the rest of the content is complete, like how it is with synchronous javascript requests.

That’s it for today, will see you again tomorrow with a new article or tutorial.
